In etc. On 1 September AD 1479 I William Stevenes of healthy mind and good memory make etc., and my body to be buried in the churchyard of the church of St John the Baptist of Grenboroughe. Item I bequeath to the high altar a half-quarter of barley for tithes forgotten. Item I bequeath to the altar of St Mary 20d. Item I bequeath to the mother church of St Albans 40d. Item I bequeath to the four lights of the chancel a half-quarter of barley. Item I bequeath to the torches of the aforesaid church 2 measures of barley. The residue indeed etc. I give and bequeath to William Stevenes my son and Joan his wife and to carry out this will well and faithfully I ordain, make and appoint the aforesaid William and Joan my true executors and Louis [lodowic'] [sic]

Notes

William Stevens the younger received a messuage and virgate of land in Granborough from his father, also William Stevens, in 1455; his father's will was proved in 1459.
